About Full Mouth Dental X-rays

Although your pet's smile may appear healthy, gum disease and other oral health problems could still hide beneath the surface of the teeth. For this reason, the team at Pet Method performs digital dental x-rays to view the area beneath the gumline and see the internal tooth anatomy, tooth roots, and bone structure. This allows Dr. Hunter Finn and his team to detect unseen damage, like periodontal disease or loss of bone surrounding the tooth roots. General anesthesia is typically used during all dental procedures to provide a safe, comfortable experience for your pet. Set up an appointment for a dental health assessment by contacting our McKinney, TX vet clinic today.

What are the Benefits of Full Mouth Dental X-rays?

Because the majority of your pet's tooth structure sits beneath the gum line - meaning it is not visible on a routine inspection - many dental problems can go undetected and become worse over time. Full mouth dental x-rays for your pet in McKinney, TX offer a number of benefits when it comes to identifying dental problems and keeping your pet comfortable and healthy, such as:

  • Allows the entire tooth structure, including the root, to be evaluated
  • Provides an opportunity to detect hidden tooth decay, periodontal disease, infections, and bone loss
  • Helps identify painful conditions that would otherwise go undetected, allowing your pet to receive appropriate treatment and pain relief sooner
  • Aids in necessary dental procedures and surgeries
  • Gives more information on the cause/anatomy of a missing tooth or tooth resorption (cats)

How Full Mouth Dental X-rays Work

During veterinary dental visits, we conduct an examination of your pet's mouth in order to assess their total oral health. Prior to performing dental x-rays, Dr. Finn will perform a pre-anesthetic physical assessment in addition to taking a blood sample. This will ensure that your pet is healthy enough to receive anesthesia. Once your pet is sedated, a sensor will be placed into your pet's mouth and repositioned several times to take a number of images using our digital x-ray technology. The entire process takes about ten minutes. These x-rays allow Dr. Finn to view the structures inside your pet's teeth and gums and diagnose any current dental health problems. A member of our veterinary staff will carefully monitor your pet throughout the procedure.

The best pet clinic I ever been to in the whole dfw area. The vet is honest and reliable and knows exactly what he’s doing and all the other employees are helpful and respectful. They did surgery on my Boston terrier very well and my dog is back to normal!

Dr. Finn and his whole team are fantastic. I’ve been coming to Pet Method since they opened and this is not your average vet, this is the place you want and NEED to bring your pet for the best care and exceptional experience. I had to put my sweet pup down recently and Dr. Finn and his staff could not have been more caring and compassionate. I would drive out of my way to go to their beautiful practice and get the best care imaginable for my fur baby. I’ve been to a lot of vet clinics after moving so many times so take my word. If you have a pet, you need to go see Dr. Finn. You’ll be blown away at the difference in standard of care and support you’ll receive. Plus their practice is gorgeous and you never have to wait ages just to get 5 minutes with the doctor. Truly the best!

My experience at Pet Method was nothing short of amazing! Our dog has had some very unusual problems and symptoms for about 8+ months now. After thousands of dollars and too many vet visits to count, we were left with no answers or a potential "maybe" from our previous vet. We finally decided to get a second opinion! Dr. Finn and his staff were extremely patient, helpful, and everything my dog mamma heart needed today. From the moment I called and spoke to Sarah, I knew we were in good hands. She spent nearly 20 minutes on the phone just listening to my problems. Once I we arrived, we were greeted by two amazing ladies who made my normally extremely anxious dog, feel comfortable and 100x less anxious than he has ever been at a vet. Dr. Finn then came in and thoroughly assessed him for 30+ minutes, listened to all of my concerns/theories, and never made me feel like he was in a rush to leave the room as there were other patients he needed to get to. We do not have answers but we finally have some potential solutions which is going to make a world of difference for my dog! As crazy as this sounds, I nearly left in tears due to the amount of relief I feel knowing someone is taking my dogs health seriously. I could not recommend this place more! Dr. Finn and his staff are everything you see on TikTok and IG. I am so happy we came to see them today.

I just wanted to share something with everyone. Over this past weekend my Chihuahua Dolly Parton had to be taken to the Animal ER hospital in McKinney. We haven't lived here long but we had seen Dr. Finn twice, but it was weekend and I only knew of one place to take Dolly. I was scared for her life and of course very emotional, one of the vets there was more concerned with money and not my dog's life, they sent us home with oral medication and said come back if anything changes. Well we came, but ended up taking Dolly back 30 minutes later cause there was no way we were going to be able to give her oral medication. Luckily the Owner of the ER was there and she was absolutely great, she was caring and she helped us, so we left Dolly there for the night. But what really made everything worse was the Vet Assistant telling me that Dr. Finn was no good and they have been telling everyone to stay away from him. I was very confused by hearing this and very upset. Well yesterday morning, a Sunday morning I get a call from Dr. Finn cause he had received an email from the owner of the ER that Dolly had been brought in and I almost didn't answer, due to what I had been told by the Vet Assistant. But I answered the call and I'm really glad I did, Dr. Finn was everything and more then my first impression of him, which was great, he showed me that I was not wrong about him, he took time on a Sunday to reach out to me and help me and that he has been doing, all day yesterday he was in contact with me, helping me, guiding me on what to do for Dolly and is still helping us figure out the best course of action for Dolly. I am angry at the lies being told about Dr. Finn, because they are just that, lies. I wanted to share this with everyone, just in case anyone has been told these lies, I wanted to let everyone one know that Dr. Finn has been wonderful and gone above and beyond to help us. Thank you Dr. Finn, we are so thankful you are our Vet. Jessica Carroll and Family
